Zantedeschia aethiopica (Arum Lily)

A clump forming perrenial, evergreen in milder climates. It forms bright green arrow-shaped leaves and produces a succession of pure white flowers from spring through to late summer.

Forms large clumps when mature up-to 1m high with a similar spread.

It likes humus rich moist soil, in full sun.

Will tolerate slight frost. (If plant has been hit by the frost, it will show signs of new growth in the spring)

A clump forming evergreen perennial from the lily family, with linear, lance-shaped grey/green leaves.It produces star-shaped white flowers in early summer.

It grows to an overall height of up-to 60cm with a similar spread.

It likes well - drained soil in partial shade.

Protect from  severe frost. Will tolerate coastal winds.

Banksia spinulosa  'hairpin banksia'

Part of the protea family, this compact shrub has narrow long leaves that have short teeth that are more pronounced towards the tip. It bears large cylindrical flower cones over autumn and winter which vary in colour from soft-gold through to orange-red which are very attractive to birds. It will tollerate hard pruning, which makes it easily controlled in a garden situation and suitable for large tubs and planters.

Grows up to 1m (3ft) with a 2m (6ft) spread.

Likes well drained soil in a sunny position.

An evergreen shrub that forms cylindrical, yellow/green flower heads in summer.

Grows to a hieght of 4m, with a 3m spread.

Plant in well drained, gritty soil in ful sun.

Hardy to -5c.

 

 Dicksonia Antartica ' Tree Fern '

A tree fern that produces large fronds and a fibre coated trunk.

It grows to a height of around 3m with a similar spread when fully mature.

Likes shadey areas protected from harsh winds.

This 'garden spetacular' is and ideal plant for a large waterside garden feature or to fill a wild wet area of a large garden. It forms large, rounded, jagged, deeply cut, parasol-like leaves. It forms up-right cones of flowers in early summer.

Grows up to 3m (10ft) high with a 3.5m (11ft) spread.

Likes rish moist soil in sun or partial shade.

Olea europaea   'Olive'

 Native to the Mediterranean region, the olive  makes an ideal plant for tubs and planters for patios and conservatories. More mature plants can be planted in sheltered sunny gardens.

Grows slowly in pots to make small compact tree approx 1m high.

Likes sunny, well drained soil, do not over water in winter

Watsonia 'Tresco hybrid'

These cormous perenials form clumps of long, erect, sword-shaped leaves  which form showy spikes of branched tubular orange/red flowers in mid to late summer.

Grows up to 1m high with a spread of up to 30cm.

Grows in light, well-drained soil that doesn't dry out in summer.

Where frost is likely, protect with a dry winter mulch.
