Aeonium arboreum Zwartkop   Black Aeonium

This succulent forms an erect plant, often branching to form a stunning structural plant ideal for containers. It's spoon shaped leaves of black/purple colour form tightly packed rosettes. It bears large pyramids of yellow flowers in late spring to early summer.

Grows up to 2m with up to a 2m spread.

Likes well drained soil and plenty of sun.

Tender,protect from frost.

Aloe Castanae

A small tree aloe, produces a spike of orange/brown flowers in winter.

Grows up to a height of 1.5m with a similar spread.

Plant in full sun in very well drained soil.

Protect from severe frost.

Aloe marlothii

A single stemmed tree aloe, produces branched flowers, orange/red in colour in autumn.

Grows up to 2.5m with a similar spread.

Plant in well drained soil in full sun.

Protect from severe frost. 

Puya chilensis

This evergreen perennial forms an erect caudex-like stem in maturity, sometimes branched, bearing spreading, dense, terminal rosettes of lance-shaped, stiff, leathery, mid-green leaves with marginal spines. In summer it produces trumpet shaped flowers with green sepals.

Grows up to 5m (15ft) with a 2m (6ft) spread.

Likes well drained soil in full sun.

Will withstand slight frost, up to -5.

Aloe polyphylla 

This Aloe forms a single rosette with a spiral arrangement of leaves. The leaves grow to around 30cm long and are grey-green in colour with the tips turning purplish-black. It has red through to salmon pink flowers on tall (up to 60cm) spike.

Grows up to 30cm with a 70cm spread.

Unlike most Aloes this will tolerate slightly cooler and damper conditions.

Will withstand a slight frost, up to -4 c.
